Senior Technical Implementation Specialist - Cerner

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers.  In order to ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium.   Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.

ERPi is providing a range of program management, administrative, and technical support activities to the VA’s EHRM Program Executive Office (PEO) in support of this transformative and high-profile enterprise-wide effort. The scope of this program includes PMO support of the EHRM, including the maintenance, enhancement and decommissioning of supporting legacy health systems and support for all projects and programs required for the success of the EHRM.
In this vital VA EHR transformation is hiring a Senior Technical Implementation (Cerner) Specialist who will be responsible for supporting and driving the successful implementation of the VA EHR modernization. The specialist collaborates across project teams to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of current clinical documentation processes and leverages their own technical knowledge to support the new processes.
Specific Responsibilities:
·        Co-lead system review, design, development, and testing
·        Facilitate Current and Future state analysis
·        Drive technical recommendations
·        Work directly with technical leads, client clinicians, and clinical leadership to proactively assess documentation opportunities and issues
·        Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate discussions and decision making
·        Support tech lead to researches, analyzes, and makes recommendations for application work flow improvements
·        Actively participate in the Project teams for the purpose of building clinical informatics systems, workflow analysis, and evidence-based content
·        Guide development and revisions of informatics policies and procedures based on system design, workflow reengineering, and input from end-users
·        Comply with standards for change control and work plans.
·        Ensure appropriate communication and documentation is completed in order to support application quality programs and application development.
·        Work with project team for a successful on-time outcome.
·        Client facing with executive presence and the ability to communicate progress, risks, and challenges to Project Manager and executive team
Basic Qualifications:
·        6 years of progressive EHR Implementation experience, VA Vista experience a plus
·        Experience with HL7, ADT, FHIR and various other interface types
·        Experience with integrated health information systems as a consultant, system analyst, developer, architect and/or other role
·        Bachelor’s degree in a related field
·        Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
·        Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
·        Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through written and verbal communications.
·        Requires strong customer service skills and the ability to work as a team member.
   Willingness to facilitate end user training and ensuring that systems capabilities are evaluated to meet end user requirements and organizational strategic planning objectives
   Must live in the Washington, DC Metro area
Ideal Qualifications:
              
·        Degree in clinical field (e.g. BSN) with current license/certification or eligibility (e.g. RN).
·        Experience in a clinical environment (e.g., Nursing, Radiology, Pharmacy, etc.)
·        Relevant Cerner Certifications (e.g., Healtheintent, Lighthouse, etc.)
·        Excellent data-visualization, presentation, and communication skills with ability to demonstrate these skills in both face-to-face and electronic formats
·        Strong understanding of emerging Enterprise Data Management tools and processes, including: Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Data Modeling, Data Integration and Synchronization, Design and Build of Data Warehouses, Data Distribution, Reporting and Business Intelligence Solutions, Data Retention, Lifecycle, Standardization and Taxonomy, Enterprise Data Management Policies, Procedures, Compliance and Risk Management
