Senior Trainer - Health Programs

Position
ERPi is seeking a Senior Trainer in Health Programs with experience in planning, creating, and executing training for health professionals (e.g., nurses, social workers, psychologists, case workers) that are delivered via an instructor-led (i.e., traditional classroom setting or conference/seminar) or web-based (i.e., Internet/Intranet, software packages and computer applications) systems. Tasks may include conducting evaluations; analyzing and identifying communication and skill requirements; translating needs into workshop and remedial training modules; developing and revising workbooks and class instructional materials associated with standard and customized workshops; performing training related administrative tasks; developing and maintaining training databases; conducting face-to-face and online training; attending and participating in meetings and committees; and making presentations as needed.

The Senior Trainer in Health Programs role will be part of a team that is providing training and technical assistance to the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) National Homeless Veterans Program Office. VHA is committed to sustaining the gains made by the Department of Veterans Affairs Agency goal to End Veteran Homelessness (EVH). To sustain the gains, silos between VHA’s homeless services programs must be broken down to foster collaboration across programs and enable a seamless continuum of care and support services. The ERPi team is supporting this mission by performing an evaluation of the homeless services provided at 40 VA Medical Centers (hospitals) across the United States using quantitative outcome data and qualitative assessments of practitioner needs and obstacles to achieving greater integration of services at each medical center.  ERPi is using the results to provide specific technical advisory and training services over three years that are aligned with the mission and goals of the VHA National Program Office’s programs and are founded on evidence-based practices (EBPs) that can lead to improved client outcomes to permanently house and employ homeless Veterans. Evidence-based practices include: Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Housing First, and Critical Time Intervention.
 
 
This role requires a combination of strong analytical skills, strong organization and prioritization skills, ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment, ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels, ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble solutions to meet needs, and excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Role Description:
  • Provides training and technical assistance in clinical best practices to healthcare professionals at Veterans hospitals nationwide who provide homeless program services (e.g., housing, employment, counselling, and case management) to Veterans who are homeless or recently homeless.
  • Tasks may include: conducting evaluations; analyzing and identifying communication and skill requirements; translating needs into workshop and remedial training modules; developing and revising workbooks and class instructional materials associated with standard and customized workshops; performing training related administrative tasks; developing and maintaining training databases; conducting face-to-face and online training; attending and participating in meetings and committees; and making presentations as needed.
  • Excellence in oral and written communications (briefings, presentations, and client ready documentation).
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and communications and represent ERPi at client progress meetings and briefings.
  • Prepare progress reports and client briefings.
  • Prepare quality client deliverables.
  • Help to plan and execute program within client governance structure.
  • Support client growth initiatives by identifying additional opportunities and scoping/responding to follow-on tasks.
 
Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Previous experience as a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Nurse, Licensed Psychologist, Medical Doctor, or Licensed Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in a related discipline is required
  • Experience as a trainer of healthcare professionals
  • BA/BS degree
  • Ability to travel CONUS ~30%
