Clinical Operations Improvement Consultant

ERPi is seeking clinical operations improvement consultants to serve as subject matter experts in clinical operations, project management, and process improvement, combining a passion for improving Veteran healthcare, consulting skills, and federal and/or private sector healthcare industry experience to help improve the performance of VHA’s purchased care and revenue cycle operations.

This role will include performing performance improvement projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical and administrative-related processes that include referral and authorization, care coordination, and clinical integration activities. The Clinical Consultant will be part of a program implementation support services contract that supports the implementation of a nationwide Health Plan and an ongoing enterprise-wide transformation of the Veterans Health Administration’s health care delivery system called VHA Community Care. The program will provide Veteran patients with greater access to care through an integrated network of VA health care facilities and community providers in a manner that is easy to understand, simple to administer, and meets the needs of Veterans, community providers, and VA employees. The VHA Community Care Program Implementation Support contract will adapt commercial best practices and principles from payers and providers to help modernize VA’s clinical and business processes and capabilities to successfully transform VA community care and improve the Veteran, community provider and VA employee experience.

This role requires a combination of knowledge of clinical terminology and systems, strong analytical skills, health plan process knowledge, process improvement, project management, strong organization and prioritization skills, ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment, ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels, ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble solutions to meet needs, and excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Role Description:
  • Provides health plan implementation consulting support to a program implementation support services contract for an enterprise-wide transformation of the Veterans Health Administration’s health care delivery system called VHA Community Care.
  • Tasks may include: include performing performance improvement projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical and administrative-related processes that include referral and authorization, care coordination and clinical integration.
  • Excellence in oral and written communications (briefings, presentations, and client ready documentation).
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and communications and represent ERPi at client progress meetings and briefings.
  • Prepare progress reports and client briefings.
  • Prepare quality client deliverables.
  • Help to plan and execute program within client governance structure.
  • Support client growth initiatives by identifying additional opportunities and scoping/responding to follow-on tasks.
Required Skills and Experiences:
  • 5+ years of consulting experience with healthcare clients
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong knowledge and skills with Microsoft Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment
  • Strong budget and timeline management
  • Strong people management skills
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble solutions to meet needs

Education and Certifications Requirements
  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters degree desirable
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or FAC-P/PM certification desirable
  • Medical degree such as a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Physician Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Registered Nurse (RN)
