Clinical Transformation Specialist (PNW/Spokane)

ERPi is currently seeking a full time Clinical Transformation Specialist to provide onsite support at our Spokane, Washington client site.
The Role:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers.  To ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium.   Currently, the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.
ERPi is providing a range of program management, and technical support activities to the VA’s Office of EHRM Program Management Office (PMO) in support of this transformative enterprise-wide effort.
As a Clinical Transformation Specialist, the ideal candidate will provide strategic planning and guidance to EHRM senior leadership to support project planning, implementation, and clinical transformation. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting program reviews and project management, and will proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, conduct program planning and evaluations to increase program performance.

Tasks may include:
  • Developing plans associated with transition management, implementation of major initiatives, communications associated with major initiatives, risk assessment, and organizational transformation and culture change
  • Process re-engineering for clinical and administrative workflows within the care setting
  • Liaising with clinical councils to ensure appropriate interpretation of current state processes and accurate mapping to future state capability/functionalities
  • Acting as POC with PMO on departmental readiness assessments on the functional side and coordinate activities with solution architects and Cerner counterparts moving up to GO live
  • The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of large scale Government and/or private sector Integrated Health Care Systems. Additional experience and knowledge of implementation and planning efforts for commercial EHR/EMRs, for Cerner and/or Epic product offerings, and/or have experience working with the VA or a VA community partner(s) may be included.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communications skills, the ability to translate technical plans, provide guidance to leaders, identify milestones/risks, and coordinate tasks to maintain timelines.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
  • Five (or more) years of experience with clinical workflow design and re-engineering
  • Cerner experience
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with a focus on attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to be an innovative, resourceful, and a collaborative problem solver
  • Strong organization, prioritization, team-work and communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Masters degree preferred in healthcare administration or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Veterans Administration including mission and requirements
  • Experience at VHA/VA preferred
  • Experience in healthcare and/or IT roles
  • Knowledge of Cerner, Epic or other commercial EHR systems
  • Knowledge of inter-operability and IT standards
  • Knowledge of DoD preferred
  • Change Management Certification
