Health IT Consultant – EHRM

ERPi is currently seeking a full-time Health IT Consultant to provide onsite support at our client site in Washington, DC

The Role:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers.  To ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium.   Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety. ERPi is providing a range of program management, and technical support activities to the VA’s EHRM Program Executive Office (PEO) in support of this transformative enterprise-wide effort. As a Health IT consultant, the ideal candidate will provide strategic planning and guidance to EHRM senior leadership to support project planning and implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting program reviews and project management, and will proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, conduct program planning and evaluations to increase program performance. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of the following:
  • Large scale Government and/or private sector Integrated Health Care Systems
  • Additional experience and knowledge of implementation and planning efforts for commercial EHR/EMRs, for Cerner and/or Epic product offerings
  • Experience working with the VA or a VA community partner(s) may be included
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communications skills, the ability to translate technical plans, provide guidance to leaders, identify milestones/risks, and coordinate tasks to maintain timelines
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
  • Ten (or more) years of experience in health IT consulting, including areas such as:  stakeholder engagement, data analytics, participating in complex change management activities, project management, training, scheduling
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with a focus on attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to be an innovative, resourceful, and a collaborative problem solver
  • Strong organization, prioritization, team-work and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, and solutions logically in written and oral situations
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment
  • Ability to provide thought leadership to senior-level clients
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines concurrently
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization, while possessing diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Knowledge of Veterans Administration including mission and requirements
  • Experience at VHA/VA preferred
  • Experience in healthcare and/or IT roles
  • Knowledge of Cerner, Epic or other commercial EHR systems
  • Knowledge of interoperability and IT standards
  • Knowledge of DoD preferred
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble service solutions to meet clients’ needs
  • Ability to quickly respond to high visibility requests
  • Ability to identify, manage, and communicate risks
