Information Architect

Location: Washington, DC
ERPi is currently seeking a fulltime Information Architect to provide support at our Washington, DC site.
 
The Role:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers.  In order to ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium.   Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.
 
This requirement for an Information Architect for Data Management will provide services to assist the EHRM Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in developing the guidelines for and implementing the process for security of our clients’ data. The ideal candidate will have experience in the creation of data processes that allow for the timely and accurate transfer of data between client systems. The ideal candidate will be able to work with client representatives and other contractors to determine software limitations, gaps and risks, and clearly communicate the same to the remainder of the team. The ideal candidate must be able to work collaboratively with the technology team to develop software practices and touch points used to meet client’s requirements for the transfer and management of client data and communicate these to the client and client workforce.
 
 
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
  • Masters (preferred but education can be waived given appropriate experience)
  • Experience with development and analyzation of data pathways and information transition best practices
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learning quickly about the capabilities of software and hardware systems and be able to communicate same
  • Deep understanding of data management and information architecture
  • Knowledge of existing VA’s EHR (VistA), in particular the data components
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, result-driven environment
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization while possessing diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble service solutions to meet clients’ needs
  • Knowledge of Veterans Administration, including mission, requirements and ability to quickly respond to high visibility requests
  • Experience working with Cerner/Vista/Genesis (preferred)
