ERPi is currently seeking a full time Functional Domain Specialist to provide onsite support at our Washington, DC site.
The Role:
ERPi provides a range of program management, administrative, and technical support activities to the VA’s EHR Program Executive Office (PEO) in support of this transformative and high-profile enterprise-wide effort. The scope of this program includes PMO support of the EHR, including the maintenance, enhancement and decommissioning of supporting legacy health systems and support for all projects and programs required for the success of the EHR implementation.  In this vital VA EHR transformation, we are seeking an Electronic Health Record (EHR) specialist to support business process development and improvements. The specialist collaborates across project teams to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of current clinical documentation processes and leverages their own technical knowledge to support new processes.
  • Business Process Development – support strategy development and implementation/execution of relevant business processes and process improvements; develop business process mapping / workflows (using VISIO) to document ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ end-states; perform gap analyses of differences between current and targeted states; document findings; draft recommendations; utilize LSS / Baldrige or other equivalent best practices
  • Requirements Documentation – will document requirements, establish technical business rules, and implementation plans
  • Technical Coordination – support software development lifecycle planning of VA’s EHR solution
  • Stakeholder Engagement – assist with stakeholder interviews, collaborative design sessions, and other information gathering forums to define ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ states
  • Data Analysis Coordination – support data analysis and validation to drive technical recommendations; work directly with technical leads, client clinicians, and clinical leadership to proactively assess opportunities and issues
  • Oral and Written Communication –  utilize effective skills to facilitate discussions and decision making and actively participate with various teams for the purpose of building clinical informatics systems, workflow analysis, and evidence-based content
Required Skills and Experience:
  • BA/BS Degree
  • 5 years’ relevant experience with health care consulting, electronic health records, health care project management, health care operations analysis, and/or clinical process improvement
  • Experience with electronic health records requirements documentation, configuration, and implementation
  • 5 years of progressive EHR Implementation experience, VA Vista experience a plus
  • Experience with HL7, ADT, FHIR and various other interface types
  • Experience with integrated health information systems as a consultant, system analyst, developer, architect and/or other role
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through written and verbal communications
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work as a team member
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Degree in clinical field (e.g. BSN) with current license/certification or eligibility (e.g. RN)
  • Experience with Cerner Solutions and Cerner Certifications (e.g., Healtheintent, Lighthouse, etc.)
  • Experience assessing business processes; performing process improvements
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in a clinical environment (e.g., Nursing, Radiology, Pharmacy, etc.)
  • Excellent data-visualization, presentation, and communication skills with ability to demonstrate these skills in both face-to-face and electronic formats
