Test Engineer

Location: Washington, DC
ERPi has been awarded a contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide Program Management, Requirements, Planning and Testing services to the Multi-Channel Technologies (MCT) Program. 
 

We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join diverse teams in supporting these critical initiatives at our Washington, DC client site.
The VA Multi-Channel Technologies (MCT) Program and Enterprise Veterans Operations (EVO) were established in order to provide on-demand access to comprehensive VA services and benefits in a consistent, user-centric manner through a multi-channel virtual self-service and call center processing framework. This framework is aimed at enabling clients to find uniform information about VA’s benefits and services regardless of the access channel used to complete their transactions with VA. It allows for quick identification of Veterans without having to repeat information and will allow Veterans seamless access to multiple VA service lines.
Please note:  this is an on-site contract in Washington, DC which does not allow for regularly scheduled telework.
Job Responsibilities:
The Test Engineer supports User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across the Multi-Channel Technologies (MCT) program by verifying the broadest scope of functional, operational, interface and performance requirements creating actual end user experiences. The Test Engineer may be assigned to one large complex multi-year project or multiple smaller and/or shorter duration projects.  Specific tasks may include:
  • Read, understand and analyze business requirements; identify test scenarios; define test plan; create test cases and scripts; execute tests; identify & report defects and report outcome of test events
  • Create complex test data records (requires familiarity with defect management system repositories)
  • Establish Test Automation for MCT PMO and support multiple projects that require automated testing using Rational Functional Tester
  • Support the MCT PMO with 508 compliance testing for their Knowledge Management and other related applications   
  • Support MCT PMO with Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) testing through supporting data extraction, transformations and loading processing   
  • Manage multiple tasks by prioritizing based on client need, keeping focus on operations, ensuring quality standards and work performance   
  • Coordinate external entities such as customers, vendors, and external systems that interact with the business and communicate how people, resources and controls are contributing to successfully achieve program objectives   
  • Support client growth initiatives by identifying additional opportunities and scoping/responding to follow-on tasks
Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of professional experience in appropriate field
  • Experience on large transformation, system integration, and/or architecture contracts   
  • Understanding of Acceptance Testing as part of Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) and able to distinguish differences between need for QA testing and UAT testing   
  • Experience with analyzing and understanding both functional and non-functional requirements   
  • Good project management and systems engineering skills   
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to define, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make logical decisions   
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and client relationship building/management skills
  • Ability to work on-site daily in Washington, DC without regularly scheduled telework   
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Will not consider candidates outside the DC area
Desired Skills and Experiences:   
  • Experience with Agile software development projects for CRM COTS Business Systems   
  • Experience with Rational Tools highly desired (e.g. Rational Test Manager, Rational Quality Manager)   
  • Experience with 508 compliance testing using JAWS highly desired   
  • Experience using Test Automation tools, specifically Rational Functional Tester highly desired   
  • Relevant testing certifications (e.g. Certified System Tester (CSTE), Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certified Tester)   
  • Experience with ETL testing by analyzing ETL requirements; extract, transform, and load process test using tools such as Informatica Power Center, IBM Info-sphere and SSIS; and understanding of Business Intelligence tool such as Cognos and Power BI highly desired   
  • 3 or more years of experience supporting Federal government consulting projects through the full project life-cycle (Veteran Affairs experience a plus)   
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment   
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble service solutions to meet clients’ needs
