Business Architect

Location: Washington, DC
ERPi is seeking an experienced management consultant to provide client delivery services to Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Program contract.  The Business Architect develops detailed business architecture, business processes and system analysis for customers, develops and implements creative solutions to resolve business problems, supports development and deployment of a business architecture and applications while maintaining positive customer relationships at all levels of the organization.  The Business Architect may be assigned to one large complex multi-year project or multiple smaller or shorter duration projects. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and client relationship building/management skills.
Role Description:
  • Performs tasks to develop enterprise governance structure, business architecture, business processes, and business information; align strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services, partners and suppliers, organization, capabilities, and key business and information technology (IT) initiatives.
  • Tasks may include:
    • Developing a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations;
    • Develop and update capability maps, capability frameworks, capability roadmaps and supporting documents
    • Assisting program and project teams in prioritizing projects and activities based on capability roadmaps
    • Applying a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise; capturing the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance;
    • Defining the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organizational boundaries;
    • Identifying external entities such as customers, suppliers, and external systems that interact with the business and describing which people, resources and controls are involved in the processes; and
    • Capturing the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those units.
  • Excellence in executive-level oral and written communications (briefings, presentations, and strategic documentation)
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and communications and represent ERPi at client progress meetings and briefings.
  • Prepare progress reports and client briefings.
  • Prepare quality project deliverables.
  • Help to plan and execute program within client governance structure.
  • Support client growth initiatives by identifying additional opportunities and scoping/responding to follow-on tasks.
Required Skills and Experiences:
  • BA/BS Degree
  • 4 or more years of professional experience performing business, enterprise or solution architecture responsibilities
  • Understanding and proven application of project management best practices such as PMI’s PMBOK.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to define, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make logical decisions.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience developing detailed architecture documentation, business processes, project plans and resource plans
Additional Skills Desired
  • Experience with federal contracting and large healthcare organizations
  • Experience developing and maintaining IT enterprise architecture
  • Experience developing and maintaining IT solution architecture
Education and Certifications Requirements
  • Bachelors degree
  • Business Architecture Certification desirable
