The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers.  In order to ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium.   Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.

ERPi is providing a range of program management, administrative, and technical support activities to the VA’s EHRM Program Executive Office (PEO) in support of this transformative and high-profile enterprise-wide effort. The scope of this program includes PMO support of the EHRM, including the maintenance, enhancement and decommissioning of supporting legacy health systems and support for all projects and programs required for the success of the EHRM.
Job Responsibilities:

This requirement is for contractor support services to provide strategic communication support to assist the EHRM PEO’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in planning, writing, creating, designing, developing, coordinating, executing, implementing, disseminating, and measuring/evaluating a broad range of communications for members of Congress.  The Graphic Designer will develop graphics for project and program leadership, including infographics, illustrations, posters, banners, templates, fact sheets, newsletters, and icons.
The Graphic Artist is responsible for planning, designing, and producing graphic exhibits, including artistic considerations using technical knowledge and skills, in both physical and electronic form. Tasks may include designing web products and updating the VA internet and intranet sites, VA Pulse site and social media sites.
Work collaboratively with the communications team to ensure the messaging for EHRM is consistent across all outlets.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, result-driven environment
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization while possessing diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble service solutions to meet clients’ needs
  • Excellent visual ideation/creativity including the ability to make original sketches based on ideas from the VA client and then use those sketches as the foundation for what will ultimately appear on the web or in print
  • Good understanding of font families, line-height, tracking, and other aspects of typography
  • Expert Knowledge in at least a few of the graphic design platforms (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and be aware of the rise and fall in their use
  • Proficiency in multimedia design software (e.g., Acrobat, etc.), the ability to create simple animations, programming language integration, documents with interface elements, and interactive infographics, and to develop more complex and multimedia-rich projects.
  • Proficiency in organizing and structuring elements on a page so they are clear and guide visitors towards the goal, presenting information and a path for the VA client while hitting that perfect balancing point between space-wasting and cluttering
