Process Automation Consultant

Location: Fairfax, VA
The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has retained ERPi to support its stewardship of Veteran data quality and to assist in systematically identifying and preventing benefits fraud.


ERPi is seeking a Process Automation Consultant to join the team in assisting VBA in defining and scripting automation solutions increase the speed and accuracy of our data quality initiatives.
In support of this program, ERPi is looking for a qualified Process Automation Consultant to:
  • Work closely with the user to define requirements
  • Solve complex challenges by scripting, programming and automating business process and analytic solutions in support of robotic processing automation, machine learning, and/or other forms of artificial intelligence.
  • Perform tasks related to developing and modifying web-based applications, client-server applications and/or OS scripts for process automation, using skill and knowledge of application development in a Relational Database Management System or Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Utilize knowledge of scripting and automation to parse and format complex data sets.
  • Serve as an expert in updating and automating traditional analytical techniques through scripting and automation.
  • Develop user functional test scripts to verify data quality requirements/changes were successfully implemented.
  • Write SQL scripts to extract, transform, upload data.
  • Observe user functional testing.
  • Develop program specifications (requirements) to implement data quality fixes, remediation, or fraud identification/prevention logic.
  • Review and assess application test plans, schedules, and resourcing.
  • Create test/training data.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • BA/BS degree    
  • 5+ years of general programming and/or coding experience.
  • Experience with scripting, programming and automating business process and analytic solutions.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing business requirements and test plans.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization while possessing diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with robotic process automation and/or machine learning and/or other forms of artificial intelligence highly preferred.
  • Understanding and proven application of agile and waterfall software development and testing best practices.
  • Experience working within Veterans Administration, Veterans Health Administration, or Veterans Benefits Administration or other Cabinet-level Federal Agency.
  • Experience defining requirements, system designs that improve IT application data quality.
  • Experience supporting and participating in user functional testing.
